Gold Coast Diving
The Gold Coast isn’t typically known for diving, but there are many underwater gems just waiting to be discovered. Come on a submerged adventure and enjoy the constantly changing seascape that the Gold Coast has to offer.
A boat ride to Stradbroke Island (Straddie, colloquially) will deliver you to colourful coral and exotic marine life. Scuba diving in Straddie has 15 exceptional diving spots. An absolute gem off Southeast Queensland, Straddie is home to dolphins, sharks, whales, mantas, and many reef fish species. Shag Rock is spectacular for smaller critters like octopus and anemones. Flat Rock is ideal for turtle caves and lush marine fauna, as well as Shark Alley, and The Nursery where you may discover a hammerhead shark! Manta Bommie is world-renowned for a myriad of fish and leopard sharks.
Kirra Reef Dive Site, not far from iconic Kirra Beach, provides an intriguing dive experience. Swim between the rocks and find an array of hidden gems throughout the reef. Smaller marine species like octopus, cuttlefish, nudibranchs, and flatworms are regulars at Kirra Reef and larger species like stingrays, eagle rays, wobbegongs and blind sharks are frequent visitors too.
In addition to these diving hot spots, you’ll want to explore Palm Beach Reef, Migaloo Reef, Mermaid Reef, and 9 Mile Reef. My Queensland often offers perfectly packaged holidays with diving inclusions along with your Gold Coast resort stay.
