When to Visit Gold Coast
When to Visit Gold Coast
Scattered light showers can be experienced from December to April. July to November tend to be the best times, due to sunshine and temperatures of around 23°C. If you’re not used to humidity, perhaps stay where you are in February when the air is heavy. And even if you do experience wet weather on the Gold Coast, you’ll still have so much to do and so many ways to play. If you prefer cooler climates, the Gold Coast hits a lovely 16°C during winter, around May-August. Really, the Gold Coast is beautiful all year round. Book in advance to get the best deals, as there is no real ‘low season’ on the Gold Coast.

The temperature remains even throughout the year, with July and August the coolest months at 22°C and the warmer, summer months reaching no higher than 31°C. Noosa receives less rain than its northerly sisters and is therefore more suited to year-round travel. As stingers don’t come this far south, there is no concern when getting in the water. Noosa’s rainy season also parallels that of Cairns and the Whitsundays. Noosa’s rain passes much quicker than if you were further north, allowing enough time for a quick rest or cocktail before the skies clear and you’re on the beach again.
When to Visit Tropical North Queensland

The regions of Cairns, Port Douglas, and Palm Cove are hot and humid year-round, and temperatures average around 31°C. Cairns’ rainy season is from November to April; this is when you will get near-daily rainfall but far fewer tourists on your day trips. If you’re spending most of your time underwater anyway, the rain won’t drag down your holiday. Port Douglas is best during March to May or September to November when there are fewer visitors.
When to Visit Whitsundays
When to Visit Whitsundays
In the Whitsundays the wet season matches that of Cairns, running from November to April, however, the added concern is stingers. Stinger season runs approximately between October and March every year, and during this time a stinger suit must be worn when swimming in the Whitsundays, including on day trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach or just off the beach at Daydream Island. September to October is the perfect time to visit as you’ll likely be sailing through clear blue skies and light winds. November is the best time to miss the school holiday season!
